I am a grower of terrestrial orchids. For several years now I have been using increasing amounts of orchid bark in my compost mixes. Orchiata bark is the best product of its kind I have encountered. It is largely free of dust, cambium and wood and the individual pieces of bark are solid and chunky rather than flat and flaky, making it very well aerated. It appears to last well. I understand it is treated to remove pests and to improve its durability. Of course it is also excellent for epiphytes as well. I can recommend it.
